IIMs lag on faculty reservation implementation nearly a year after directive

Nearly a year after the Ministry of Education directed Indian Institutes of Management to implement faculty reservation policies, the IIMs have yet to complete the task of preparing comprehensive faculty reservation rosters. The directive was issued at a meeting on September 23, 2025, when the ministry instructed all IIMs to prepare their rosters and submit them for compliance.
Despite the clear mandate from the centre, the premier management institutions have failed to meet the compliance deadline. The delay in roster preparation across multiple IIMs raises concerns about the pace at which these institutions are implementing the government's policy directive on faculty reservation.
The incomplete implementation of the faculty reservation policy underscores the challenges in executing government mandates across elite educational institutions, with questions remaining about when the IIMs will finally submit their required rosters to the Ministry of Education.
