IIT Delhi develops Hindi version of music therapy for stroke-related speech recovery
Researchers from IIT Delhi, AIIMS New Delhi and IHBAS have developed the first Hindi version of Melodic Intonation Therapy for stroke survivors with aphasia. The music-based treatment uses melody and rhythm to support speech recovery in Hindi speakers.
A pilot study involving six Hindi-speaking stroke survivors showed clinically meaningful improvements after 40 therapy sessions. The findings have been published in the journal Aphasiology, demonstrating a language-specific rehabilitation approach tailored to Indian patients.
