IIT Palakkad researchers develop sensors for faster heparin monitoring

Researchers at IIT Palakkad have developed sensors to enable faster and more accurate monitoring of heparin, an anticoagulant commonly used in cardiac surgery and dialysis. Precise heparin dosing is critical in medical practice, as insufficient quantities can trigger blood clotting while excessive amounts risk severe bleeding complications.
The new sensor technology aims to streamline heparin monitoring and improve patient safety by allowing healthcare providers to make real-time dosing adjustments during treatment.
