IIT Madras study reveals educated professionals fall prey to financial cybercrimes

A study conducted by IIT Madras has identified that highly educated professionals across multiple sectors are vulnerable to financial cybercrimes. The research found victims among IT professionals, bankers, doctors, management consultants, finance professionals, public-sector officers, and even individuals holding cybersecurity certifications.
The findings suggest that educational qualification and professional expertise in technology or finance do not provide immunity against cybercriminal tactics. The study underscores the need for targeted awareness and robust security practices across professional communities, regardless of their technical knowledge or sector.
