IMD warns of potential monsoon depression as low-pressure system brews over Bay of Bengal

The Indian Meteorological Department has flagged a developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, expected to form around Saturday. The system could intensify initially into a monsoon depression, which is two steps below cyclone classification.
Monsoon depressions are a common weather phenomenon during the southwest monsoon season and can bring heavy rainfall to coastal and inland regions.
