INDIA bloc to launch nationwide month-long agitation from Gandhi Jayanti

The INDIA bloc, comprising approximately 20 parties, is set to launch a concerted month-long nationwide agitation beginning on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2. The opposition alliance plans to hold "save democracy" marches across all districts in the country, escalating pressure against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alleged "vote chori" in the country.
The agitation coincides with protest calls from various social activist groups and student bodies, including the Cockroach Janata Party and AISA. The Aam Aadmi Party will protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, with former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia urging people to join the gathering and demand Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. Social activists, student leaders including AISA president Neha Bora, advocate Prashant Bhushan, and RJD MP Manoj Jha have decided to press ahead with their protest at Jantar Mantar despite not receiving clearance from Delhi police.
The Congress has called a meeting of all AICC in-charges and PCC chiefs in Delhi on October 5 to discuss strategy for the agitation programme. The CJP, which led a major protest over examination paper leaks that resulted in the ouster of Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, has announced a major protest in Mumbai. Heavy security has been deployed in New Delhi district in anticipation of the demonstrations.
