Shubman Gill Takes Stunning Catch to Dismiss Mendis, Gives India Crucial Breakthrough
India skipper Shubman Gill produced a moment of brilliance when he caught Kamindu Mendis at square leg, ending a crucial partnership and giving the Indian team a much-needed breakthrough. The dismissal came off a short ball from Prasidh Krishna, who angled the delivery across the left-handed batter at shoulder height.
Mendis, who had earlier found success against Krishna's short-ball tactics with a four and a six, attempted to take on the challenge again. However, he could only get the ball high on the bat, resulting in a top edge that flew over square leg.
Gill ran back, adjusted his position, kept his eyes on the descending ball and dove forward to complete the catch with both hands. The dismissal, described as a turning point in the contest, injected fresh energy into the Indian camp at a crucial stage of the innings.
