India, China hold first major corps commander meeting in Arunachal Pradesh

India and China will hold their first major Border Personnel Meeting at corps commander level in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday at the Wacha-Damai border point near Kibithu. The meeting follows heightened military tensions in the Upper Subansiri area over the past month, though the Indian Army has not issued an official statement yet.
Three Indian corps commanders will represent India's side at the meeting, which aims to resolve local issues. India's 4 Corps (based in Tezpur) and 3 Corps (Rangipur) oversee the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting comes after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval's recent visit to China, during which both sides announced measures to maintain peace and stability along the LAC.
This follows the 2020 Galwan clash and reflects the established mechanism of corps commander-level talks to manage differences over the LAC, similar to the Chushul-Moldo meeting point in Ladakh.
