India, China Hold First Corps Commander-Level Talks in Arunachal Pradesh on LAC Issues

The Indian and Chinese armies held their first Corps Commander-level talks in the eastern sector on September 6 at the Wacha-Damai border meeting point in Arunachal Pradesh. The Indian side was represented by Lt Gen Girish Kalia, Commander of 3 Corps, which oversees the LAC in the region alongside the Tezpur-based 4 Corps.
The meeting addressed ongoing issues along the Line of Actual Control where India and China maintain differing perceptions of the border. The Indian Army maintained a firm stance during discussions on the positions taken by Chinese troops in the area.
This marks the first Corps Commander-level engagement in the eastern sector, following similar meetings held at the Chusul-Moldo border point in Ladakh since the 2020 Galwan clashes. The talks come after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval's visit to China, which resulted in announcements of measures to maintain peace along the LAC.
