India Condemns Pakistan's PoK Crackdown, Calls for Global Probe Into Killings

India on Friday strongly criticized Pakistan's response to unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, accusing Islamabad of using force against civilians. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called on the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for alleged human rights violations in the region.
Jaiswal said Pakistan's leadership had acknowledged consequences of its long-standing policy of supporting militant groups. He noted that the Pakistani establishment had branded protesting civilians as enemies while admitting that militant groups once trained, funded and armed by the state to operate in India had now turned against Pakistan itself.
Jaiswal further stated that people in PoK had appealed to international organizations for an independent investigation into what they described as unlawful killings during the crackdown on protests. He also said recent elections in the territory reflected rejection of Pakistani establishment and exposed growing instability in the region.
