India strengthens strategic ties with Ethiopia, Malaysia at BRICS summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held high-level bilateral meetings with the top leadership of Ethiopia and Malaysia during the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi. These meetings have set India's diplomatic, defence and economic relations with both nations on a new trajectory.

Both Ethiopia and Malaysia expressed a strong desire to deepen defence cooperation with India as a strategic pillar. Joint military training programmes at Indian defence institutions, counter-terrorism initiatives, maritime security cooperation and strategic capacity building were discussed during the talks.

The meetings reflect India's growing position as a trusted and leading strategic partner of the Global South amid rapid shifts in global geopolitics and rising demand for supply chain diversification.
