India plans insurance reforms to standardise healthcare costs
India is considering sweeping health insurance reforms aimed at standardising treatment rates, coverage and billing practices across the country. A regulatory panel is expected to submit recommendations by year-end as authorities work to curb medical inflation and reduce fraudulent claims in the healthcare sector.
The proposed reforms also include expanding a nationwide claims exchange to encourage greater insurance coverage. The measures are part of broader efforts to make health insurance more accessible and affordable across India.
