India rules out BRICS currency proposal, backs local currency trade

India has ruled out a proposal for a common BRICS currency, stating instead its preference for local currency trade settlements between member nations. The position reflects India's approach to strengthening economic ties within the BRICS bloc through bilateral arrangements rather than a unified currency mechanism.
The stance comes as BRICS continues discussions on enhancing financial cooperation and reducing dependence on the US dollar in intra-bloc trade.
