India seeks rare earth samples from Russian Siberian deposit

India is in discussions to obtain rare earth samples from a Siberian deposit owned by Russian company Rosneft. According to sources familiar with the matter, New Delhi aims to examine the mineral composition of the deposit before committing to any deeper involvement.
The discussions remain confidential at this stage. India's interest in securing rare earth resources aligns with its broader strategy to diversify sourcing and reduce dependence on existing suppliers for critical minerals essential to manufacturing and defence sectors.
