India Extends Swachh Bharat Mission to Antarctica at -48 Degrees Celsius

India has extended its Swachh Bharat Mission to Antarctica, implementing the cleanliness drive at an Indian research station despite temperatures plunging to minus 48 degrees Celsius.

The initiative demonstrates India's commitment to maintaining sanitation and hygiene standards across all territories and outposts, including remote and extreme environments. The Swachh Bharat Mission, a flagship national programme focused on cleanliness and sanitation, has now reached one of the world's most inhospitable regions.

This effort underscores India's presence and operational capacity in Antarctica, where the country maintains research stations as part of its scientific and exploratory missions.
