India targets $1 trillion in exports despite sluggish global trade

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated that India is pursuing a $1 trillion export target despite a challenging global trade environment. The ambitious goal would require Indian exports to grow by nearly 16 percent in the coming period.
Global trade expansion is forecast to remain modest, with predictions of only 2.5 to 3 percent growth. This slower international demand creates a headwind for India's export-dependent sectors even as the country seeks to expand its share in global commerce.
The target reflects India's economic ambitions to strengthen its export competitiveness and diversify into higher-value manufacturing and services, positioning itself as a reliable alternative to traditional trade hubs.
