India Women's Team Skips Trophy Presentation After Asia Cup 2026 Win

India's women's cricket team stayed away from the trophy presentation ceremony after winning the Women's Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai, defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final. The Indian players did not appear for medal and trophy presentation despite the emphatic victory, with Harmanpreet Kaur's side posting 183/5 and restricting Sri Lanka to 111.
The development comes as Mohsin Naqvi, Asian Cricket Council president and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, was present on stage during the proceedings. Visuals showed officials and Sri Lankan players receiving medals while the Indian team remained absent. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was also present at the venue.
This mirrors India's men's team decision not to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Naqvi during the 2025 final. While the exact reason for the women's team's absence has not been officially confirmed, the move has shifted focus from India's dominant performance and eighth Women's Asia Cup title to the controversy surrounding the trophy ceremony.
