GTech seeks Centre's intervention over U.S. Green Card suspension impact on IT sector

The IT industry body GTech is planning to approach the Centre for intervention following the U.S. suspension of PERM (Permanent Employment) visa applications, a move that could impact India's technology sector and skilled worker immigration to America.
The Ministry of External Affairs has clarified that the suspension of PERM applications does not directly affect the validity of existing H-1B visas or the status of H-1B visa holders and their dependants. However, the move has raised concerns within the Indian IT industry about future employment-based immigration pathways.
GTech is expected to engage with relevant government departments to explore potential remedies and safeguards for Indian IT professionals and companies affected by the U.S. policy shift. The suspension affects the green card application process, which is a critical pathway for long-term U.S. work authorisation for skilled workers from India.
