Indian Navy commissions INS Samrath, its first indigenously built multipurpose vessel

The Indian Navy has commissioned INS Samrath, its first indigenously built multipurpose vessel, into the fleet. The induction represents a significant achievement in India's domestic shipbuilding programme and demonstrates the country's growing capability to design and construct advanced naval platforms.
The vessel is designed to undertake multiple operational roles including surveillance, reconnaissance, and coastal defence tasks. Its addition to the Navy's operational strength enhances India's maritime capabilities and reflects the government's push toward self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
The commissioning of INS Samrath underscores India's commitment to developing indigenous defence systems and reducing dependence on foreign shipbuilders for naval vessels.
