Indian scientist P. Krishnan elected chair of global fisheries body

P. Krishnan, Director of the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO), has been elected Chair of the Regional Seas Network (RSN) for 2026-28. The election took place during the 37th session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI) held in Rome.

Krishnan's selection reflects India's growing role in global fisheries governance and maritime sustainability initiatives.
