Indore Municipal Corporation Demolishes Building Portions for Chhawni Road Widening

The Indore Municipal Corporation on Friday carried out demolition work in the Chhawni area to clear obstacles for road widening under the Master Plan. The civic body deployed three Poclain machines and two JCBs, targeting portions of the Mathurawala building and other structures identified as hindrances to the project. Municipal officials initially conducted manual removal work before deploying heavy machinery.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Prakhar Singh said the operation aimed to complete pending removal work along Chhawni Road. The corporation removed a house balcony and demolished portions of several buildings obstructing the proposed widened road. Police were deployed to maintain law and order, and no untoward incidents were reported.
The IMC had conducted a similar removal drive in Chhawni in May, which drew political opposition from the Congress party. During that earlier operation, a homeopathic doctor was injured when an electricity pole fell on him.
