Industry body seeks phased cut in chemical fertiliser use

The Biotech industry body BIPA has urged the government, industry players, research institutions and academia to jointly develop a national programme aimed at reducing chemical fertiliser consumption by 25% over a defined period.
The call comes as part of efforts to improve soil organic carbon levels and move towards more sustainable agricultural practices. BIPA emphasised the need for a phased approach involving all stakeholders to balance productivity with environmental sustainability.
