Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad jointly intercepted an Iranian-flagged dhow named Azad in the Arabian Sea west of Lakshadweep in Indian waters. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 526 kg of heroin and methamphetamine, with an estimated international market value exceeding ₹3,000 crore.
Five Pakistani nationals were detained aboard the vessel. The boat was subsequently brought to the Nargol coast in Umbergaon taluka of Gujarat's Valsad district, near the Palghar border, drawing crowds of local residents to the coastline.
Authorities are investigating the origin of the consignment, its intended destination, and the alleged trafficking network involved in transporting the narcotics. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
