Private sector participation should not compromise ISRO's capabilities, says staff

ISRO employees have submitted a fresh note expressing concerns that private sector participation in India's space programme should not come at the expense of the national space agency's core capabilities.
The staff have emphasised the need for safeguards to ensure that opening the space sector to private players does not weaken ISRO's institutional strength and operational independence. The note reflects ongoing discussions within the agency regarding the balance between commercial expansion and maintaining India's strategic space objectives.
This comes as the government has been pushing for greater private sector involvement in the Indian space economy to boost growth and competition in the sector.
