Justices discuss construction dispute mediation at Delhi conclave

The Commercial Mediation Conclave India 2026, themed "Making Mediation Mainstream," was held on 18 September 2026 at the India International Centre, New Delhi. A session combined the launch of Mehak Oberoi's book, Mediation in Construction Disputes, with a fireside conversation featuring Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani of the Delhi High Court and Justice (Retd.) Hima Kohli, formerly of the Supreme Court of India.

Oberoi explained she wrote the book after failing to find existing resources addressing practical construction mediation challenges, such as payment delays, subcontractor issues, and schedule overruns. The book offers diagnostic frameworks, checklists and tools for parties, mediation counsel, mediators and in-house lawyers to navigate construction disputes from start to finish, rather than advocating broadly for mediation itself.
