Kakoli's claim to become NCPI president before separating from the Trinamool failed.

Trinamool Congress rebel faction leader and MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on June 14. During this meeting, she informed him about the merger of two-thirds of Trinamool Congress MPs into NCPI, a political party from Tripura.

However, her claim of becoming the president of NCPI was rejected even before the merger took place. It is being reported that the dangers Kakoli faced before this merger are not yet clear.
