Security heightened as Congress, PDP, NC mark August 5 as 'Black Day' in Kashmir

Security forces have intensified arrangements across Kashmir ahead of August 5, when the Congress, PDP and National Conference plan to observe the day as a 'Black Day'. Police, the Army and the CRPF have stepped up vehicle checking, frisking and surveillance at sensitive locations throughout the region, according to officials.
The heightened security measures come as opposition parties mark the date, which coincides with the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The display of force is aimed at maintaining order during the planned observances.
