Kejriwal Compares Police Action on CJP Protesters to British Rule, Announces Legal and Medical Aid for Students

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday intensified his attack on the Centre over the police action during the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protest in Delhi, alleging that the response against demonstrators was unprecedented. Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal claimed that students participating in the protest were subjected to excessive force and assured affected families that his party would extend legal as well as medical assistance.
The AAP leader announced a dedicated helpline—8588833548—for students who were injured during the protest or whose family members were detained. He urged parents to contact the number for immediate support, saying the party would coordinate legal representation and medical care wherever required.
Kejriwal also drew a historical comparison while criticising the handling of the protest, alleging that the police action reminded him of the colonial-era suppression of public movements. He claimed that students and women were allegedly lathi-charged despite participating in the demonstration and questioned the government's response to the ongoing controversy surrounding examination irregularities.
Referring to his absence from Monday's march, Kejriwal said he was away on official work in Punjab but maintained that his family stood with the protesters. He stated that both his children participated in the march alongside other demonstrators for several hours.
The former Delhi Chief Minister further criticised the Union government over repeated examination controversies, accusing it of failing to prevent paper leaks while branding protesting students as anti-national. He argued that the focus should instead be on ensuring accountability in the education system.
Later in the day, Kejriwal visited the Parliament Street Police Station, where he sought details regarding those detained after the protest. He demanded that the Delhi Police publicly disclose all FIRs registered in connection with Monday's demonstration, provide a list of those detained without formal FIRs, and clarify where they were being held.
Appealing directly to students and their families, Kejriwal assured them that the AAP would continue extending assistance until those affected receive legal protection and necessary medical support.
