ED seeks FIR against former Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan over alleged financial irregularities

The Enforcement Directorate has recommended to Kerala's Director General of Police that an FIR be registered against former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena T, and her company Exalogic Solutions, along with his son-in-law Mohammed Riyas under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The ED allegations include claims that Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited paid Rs 2.78 crore to Exalogic for services allegedly never rendered. The agency further alleged Vijayan received Rs 3.28 crore as illegal gratification through his daughter, and that Riyas facilitated the movement of funds and their remittance to Dubai.
The Kerala government now faces the task of deciding whether to register an FIR based on the ED report. Officials stress the decision must apply the law impartially, without being influenced by the accused's political standing or used as a tool for political score-settling.
