Kerala: VACB sting uncovers illegal diversion of subsidised food grains

The Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau carried out an undercover operation, dubbed Operation Food Safety, to investigate illegal diversion of subsidised food grains. Anti-corruption sleuths posed as black marketeers attempting to purchase grains from randomly selected National Food Security Act warehouses and ration shops at prices well below market rates.
The sting operation targeted both government storage facilities and retail outlets distributing food grains under the NFSA scheme. The investigation revealed a widespread pattern of diversion from the public distribution system.
