5,000 Kolkata residents without water for 50 days in Jyotinagar eviction dispute

Around 5,000 residents of Jyotinagar Colony in north Kolkata's Cossipore area have been without piped water for more than 50 days. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) disconnected the water supply on July 29, leaving the colony's residents facing severe hardship.
The water disconnection is linked to an ongoing eviction dispute affecting the settlement. Residents continue to struggle with access to basic services amid the administrative action.
