Ladakh creates Sankoo as eighth district, announces five new tehsils

Ladakh has created Sankoo as its eighth district, marking an administrative restructuring in the region. The new district has been carved out of the existing Kargil district.

Sankoo will be composed of three tehsils: GM Pore, TSG, and Taisuru. The administration has also announced the creation of five additional tehsils as part of the broader reorganisation.

This expansion of administrative divisions aims to improve governance and service delivery across the union territory.
