Yogi Adityanath Criticises Former VP Hamid Ansari Over Hindu Right-Wing Remarks
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday criticised former vice-president Hamid Ansari over his recent remarks on Hindu right-wing communalism, terming them "unfortunate" and disrespectful to India's Sanatan tradition. Speaking at the 'Prerna Vimarsh-2026' programme at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, Yogi said persons holding high constitutional office should uphold the country's unity and integrity while respecting the Constitution.
Yogi accused Ansari of linking India's Hindu tradition with terrorism, contending that such statements could damage the country's image abroad. He stressed that individuals in positions of constitutional importance should conduct themselves with dignity befitting their office. Yogi also separately criticised what he described as disrespectful conduct at a recent event, saying Indian culture teaches respect for elders, women, and persons with disabilities.
