Land subsidence forces evacuation in Jammu & Kashmir village
Panic gripped Kotli Kalaban village in Rajouri district after land subsidence created large cracks across the area. Agricultural fields, roads, and residential structures sustained damage from the ground movement. District officials evacuated residents from two severely affected houses as a precautionary measure.
The Geological Survey of India has been called to investigate and assess the extent of the subsidence. The incident adds to a pattern of similar ground instability events reported across multiple districts in Jammu & Kashmir, including Doda, Ramban, Reasi, and Poonch in recent years.
