Last surviving Maoist central committee member Asim Mandal arrested in West Bengal

Asim Mandal, identified as the last surviving member of the Maoist central committee, has been arrested in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced. Mandal had evaded law enforcement for over 15 years.
The arrest marks a significant development in the state's counter-insurgency operations against the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) organisation, which has been active in parts of eastern and central India.
