NCERT has over 1,500 vacant posts, 44% positions unfilled at CBSE, parliamentary panel says

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is facing over 1,500 vacant posts, representing more than half of its sanctioned strength, according to a parliamentary panel report. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) also has 44 percent of its positions unfilled, raising significant concerns about operational capacity.
The parliamentary committee highlighted these major staff shortages at both key educational bodies. The vacancies risk disrupting the smooth functioning of national board examinations and ongoing educational reforms across the country.
The panel has called for urgent action to fill these critical positions promptly, given the vital roles both institutions play in India's education system.
