Madras High Court rejects plea to halt Tamil Nadu assembly bypolls

The Madras High Court has declined to stay the bypolls scheduled for two Tamil Nadu assembly constituencies. The bypolls were necessitated after AIADMK MLAs K Maragatham Kumaravel and P Satyabama resigned from their positions and joined the ruling TVK party.
The court's decision comes despite petitions challenging the conduct of the elections. The two seats are now set to go to polls following the defection of the legislators.
