Maintenance decree binding on estate, but enhancement cannot be sought after husband's death: Bombay HC

The Bombay High Court has ruled that a maintenance decree remains binding on a deceased husband's estate, but a wife cannot seek enhancement of the allowance after his death.
The judgment emerged from a case where a petitioner sought continuation of monthly maintenance from her husband's estate following his death in 2012. The court found that while the existing maintenance obligation extends to the estate, any attempt to increase the amount after the husband's demise is not permissible.
