Mamata's faction rebrands as 'Mamata AITC' with football symbol; rebels form 'Democratic Trinamool'

Mamata Banerjee's faction of the All India Trinamool Congress has rebranded itself as 'Mamata AITC' and adopted a football player as its new symbol. The move comes less than three weeks before bye-elections in West Bengal's Rejinagar and Nandigram constituencies, and Assam's Nagaon constituency.

Meanwhile, the rebel faction has formed a separate entity called 'Democratic Trinamool', signalling a formal split within the party. The timing of these developments underscores the internal divisions within the AITC as the party prepares for the upcoming bye-polls.
