Opposition parties seek fresh elections in five states after EC dissent report
Opposition leaders have called for fresh elections in Bihar, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and West Bengal following an Election Commission dissent report. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav accused the Election Commission of functioning under BJP influence to secure electoral victories across states. He also raised concerns about changes to the voting records retention period.
DMK chief MK Stalin joined the chorus, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged election discrepancies. West Bengal's former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised the Commission's handling of voting lists, adding to the growing opposition criticism.
