MNS, Shiv Sena (UBT) to jointly hold 'Jan Morcha' on October 4 against Election Commission

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray announced on Saturday that his party and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) will jointly organise a public march in Mumbai on October 4 to protest against the Election Commission's functioning. Thackeray accused the poll body, led by Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar, of deceiving voters through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and claimed it was operating like a branch of the ruling party at the Centre.
While MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) would lead the march, Thackeray said the protest aims to be a broader political and popular movement. He stated the rally seeks to protect democracy and the Constitution, and appealed to all political parties to participate. Thackeray said the time, venue and other details would be announced shortly. The march announcement comes as the SIR electoral revision process continues to fuel political controversy across the country.
