India must develop drones and hypersonic technology, says Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on India to develop indigenous capabilities in drones and hypersonic technology, stating that the nation cannot remain merely a market for defence equipment.

Modi emphasised the need for self-reliance in advanced military technologies, underscoring India's ambition to strengthen its defence manufacturing sector. He stressed that India must transition from being a consumer of technology to a producer of cutting-edge defence systems.

The statement aligns with the government's broader push towards 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) and domestic defence innovation.
