PM Modi at G7 Summit: Development Must Be for All, Not Just GDP Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the G7 Summit's Outreach Session in Avignon, France, raising the issue of inclusive and sustainable economic development. Speaking on balanced, shared and sustainable growth for all, Modi stated that development cannot be measured solely by GDP or trade figures.
Modi asserted that the real question is not how much development has occurred, but rather for whom, with whom, and in which direction it is happening. He described India's development model as inclusive, democratic and participatory, guided by the principle of "sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas, sabka prayaas" (everyone's participation, development for all, collective trust, and collective effort).
Modi highlighted India's approach through its G20 presidency and initiatives like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). He also referenced ongoing crises in West Asia, noting that supply chain disruptions affecting fuel, fertilizers and food have long-term impacts on Global South nations, warning against burdening the weakest countries with these challenges alone.
