PM Modi Gave Military 'Complete Freedom of Action' for Operation Sindoor: Ex-CDS Chauhan

Former Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan disclosed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted the military "complete freedom of action" before Operation Sindoor, allowing it to determine the operation's timing while ensuring there was no margin for error.
Speaking at the Vivekananda Centre in New Delhi, Chauhan stated that PM Modi conveyed the political decision—that perpetrators of the terror attack would face consequences and India would not tolerate cross-border terrorism—during his April 24 speech in Patna.
Chauhan explained that diplomatic, economic, and trade decisions were made on April 23, while the decision on military force application came on April 29 during a meeting between the Chiefs of Staff Committee, Defence Minister, and National Security Advisor with the Prime Minister. Multiple consultations occurred between these dates as the military presented options to the government.
