India-US conduct joint military exercise in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan

India and the United States have launched the 22nd edition of their joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas. The exercise is notable as it marks the first time India's Integrated Battle Group (IBG) is participating in joint drills with a foreign military. Both nations have deployed 600 soldiers each.
Unlike previous editions, the exercise spans two locations: Auli in Uttarakhand and Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. This multi-location format allows troops to prepare for joint operations across diverse terrains.
The exercise focuses on enhancing joint capabilities for mountain and semi-mountainous warfare. Major General Amaresh Gunjan of India's 14th Infantry Division and Colonel Benjamin Jackman of the US 11th Airborne Division addressed troops at the opening ceremony in Auli.
