PM Modi meets Iranian President Pezeshkian on BRICS Summit sidelines

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi. This is the second meeting between the two leaders in less than two weeks, following their previous engagement on August 31 during the SCO Summit in Bishkek.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that both leaders discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and recent developments in West Asia. Modi appreciated Iran's consistent high-level participation in BRICS meetings despite challenging circumstances. He reiterated that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
Modi emphasised sustained efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region, freedom of navigation and trade, and security of maritime personnel. The meeting reflects India's focus on maintaining diplomatic channels with Iran amid regional tensions.
