Russian President Putin arrives in New Delhi for 18th BRICS Summit, to meet PM Modi

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi on Friday for a three-day visit to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit. He was received by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh at the airport, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During his visit, Putin is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expand bilateral trade, investment and energy cooperation. India and Russia maintain multifaceted ties anchored in their Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
This marks Putin's first in-person participation at a BRICS summit outside Russia since the Ukraine war began in February 2022. The two-day BRICS summit, starting Saturday, is expected to focus on collective resilience in food, energy, health, disaster reduction and critical supply chains.
