India-China agree on 7 key points after Modi-Xi summit at BRICS meet

Chinese President Xi Jinping met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at India Mandapam during the ongoing BRICS summit in Delhi on the second day of the gathering. The bilateral meeting, attended by Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on the Indian side, is seen as a significant diplomatic development in India-China relations.
This is Xi's fourth visit to India during Modi's tenure, following visits in 2014 (Ahmedabad), 2016 (Goa), and 2019 (Mahabalipuram). Previous visits were followed by periods of tension—the 2017 Doklam standoff and 2020 Galwan clash had strained bilateral ties significantly.
Following the talks, India's Ministry of External Affairs confirmed seven major points of agreement between the two nations. The countries agreed to view their relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective amid changing global geopolitical circumstances and the rising role of the Global South.
