Supreme Court to annul Election Commission orders not aligned with law

The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to clarify its decision-making processes related to voter roll revisions, stressing that decisions must be taken unanimously or by majority vote among commission members.
Senior advocate Vikas Singh argued for preservation of records and scrutiny of the Election Commission's actions. The court indicated it will examine allegations of unilateral decisions against the Chief Election Commissioner.
The court made clear it will annul any Election Commission orders that do not conform to legal requirements, signalling judicial oversight of the poll body's functioning.
