Mumbai Coastal Road North Project Accelerates as Dahisar-Bhayandar Link Nears 2028 Deadline

The final phase of Mumbai's Coastal Road (North) project, connecting Dahisar to Bhayandar via the Dahisar-Bhayandar Link Road (DBLR), is advancing with foundation work in progress. Piling and pile-cap construction for bridge foundations are underway, with launching-girder work set to begin in the second week of October as authorities target a December 2028 completion.
To accelerate progress, a state-of-the-art casting yard has been established in Bhayandar to manufacture precast concrete structural components. So far, 60 piles, five pile caps, four piers, pier caps and nine bridge segments have been completed. Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar recently inspected the facility, directing officials to expedite land acquisition and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
The broader Coastal Road project spans approximately 60 km and will link Versova and Bhayandar through a coastal corridor. The DBLR section, spanning 5.135 km, includes elevated roads, structures through mangrove areas and across creeks, connector roads and flyovers.
